Heart Gallery Opening

This past Sunday was the opening of the first-ever statewide North Carolina Heart Gallery. This exhibition featured portraits of children in the foster care system who are in need of permanent homes. The portraits were taken by 23 different North Carolina photographers, and the reaction has been tremendous. Sunday's reception brought out about 80 people, we had two news channels cover it, and -- most importantly -- there were lots of people wanting to speak to the on-hand adoption workers about how to get more information. Our studio co-sponsored the event and I had the honor of being its curator. A very nice article ran in our local independent paper. To read the article, click here

Our Studio Manager

Many of you have had the chance to "meet" our new studio manager, KATIE KLEIN, who joined the studio in April. Katie comes to us by way of SCAD (Savannah School of Art & Design) where she studied photography; and Los Angeles, where she was the assistant to famed celebrity-and-fashion photographer David LaChapelle. While in L.A., Katie also trained as a makeup artist and brings her skills (and great stash of Laura Mercier makeup!) to beautify our brides. Katie does incredible studio portraiture and is a great asset as a second-shooter on all of our weddings.

Meet Matthew

I am happy to announce that MATTHEW SPENCER has come on board as associate photographer. Matthew is a photojournalist and community activist who dedicates his non-shooting hours to numerous local and civic projects. Matt and I became good friends after he and his fiance hired me to shoot their beautiful wedding in their hometown of Decatur, Georgia, last fall. In addition to being a wonderful photographer, Matt is always delightful company, and a calming presence at weddings. To see some of Matthew's personal and editorial work, click on the link at the top of this page.
